Union J heading for party in Scotland this weekend

Written by admin. Posted in Uncategorized

Scottish X Factor fans are in for an Xtra special treat this weekend: Union J are coming north of the border. Scream girls!

The boyband are set to play an Under 18s show at Fat Sams Dundee on Saturday December 22, before heading to Glasgow on Sunday 23.

They will perform an under 18’s show at the Garage on Sauchiehall Street and an over 18s event at Campus at night.

The under 18’s Garage family show will start at 2pm and doors for the over 18’s club night will open at 9pm.

Union J will be supported by rising Scots stars Supanova and Kevin McGuire.

Cameron Craig of Campus said: “The support for Union J’s Scottish tour has been phenomenal. They have already played to huge crowds in Aberdeen and we are expecting the same again at Campus on the 23rd and Dundee on the 22nd. When District 3 and Rylan Clark performed live family shows we had queues forming outside Campus at 9am, so we expect it to be a very busy afternoon”.

Union J will be feeling extremely festive, as they have just signed a recording contract with Sony.

Set to follow in the footsteps of fellow X Factor stars One Direction, it looks like 2013 could be a very eXciting year for George Shelley, Jaymi Hensley, JJ Hamblett and Josh Cuthbert.

Who is Union J?

Union J (formerly Triple J) are a four-piece boy band. The band auditioned as a trio, consisting of band members Josh Cuthbert, Jaymi Hensley and JJ Hamblett, hence the "J" at the end of their name. Initially, they did not make it through the bootcamp stage. However, after fellow contestants Rough Copy had to withdraw from the show, they were given a second chance, and advanced to judges' houses, under the new alias Union J, with a new fourth member, George Shelley, 19, who originally applied as a solo artist and was encouraged to apply by his girlfriend. Their Judges Houses' performance of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" proved successful enough to send them through to the live shows.
